Huck Hodge ( USA )

hodge, huck.jpg

I am Huck Hodge, a native of Eugene, Oregon. My recent music has been influenced by East Asian musical traditions (particularly the p'ansori tradition of Korea), music of the early Renaissance (though rather obliquely), Western and Eastern philosophical inquiry and the fields of Psychoacoustics and Cognition. I am currently a Faculty Fellow at Columbia University, where my primary teachers are Tristan Murail (Composition) and Fred Lerdahl (Music Cognition and Composition). Before this I studied Music Theory and Computer Music (Musiktheorie und Neue Medien) at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart where my teachers included Georg Wötzer and Marco Stroppa. My work has received funding through organizations such as the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD). My music has been performed at festivals in Germany, South Africa, Canada, the United States, and Italy.
