The Chillout Lounge is located in the glass cube of the Kunstmuseum [>>] in the heart of the city. Here you can experience selected “Short Cuts: Beauty” from the same-named ZKM electro-acoustic music competition [>>] from 18th to 22nd and from 25th to 28th July. This highlights musically creative people from all continents and regions involved with making computer music. The theme is the multifaceted conceptions of beauty in diverse cultures. Short Cuts are short 3 to 8 minute electronic pieces in which the artists present or process three of their favourite sounds. This could just simply be common everyday sounds as well as instrumental sounds, voices or other totally different noises. The night of 22nd July is dedicated to club music. The event with performers spinning discs in the Chillout Lounge at the Kunstmuseum highlights the club scene in Germany.

The centre piece of DEGEM’s contribution will be the “Long night of electro-acoustic music” on 21st July from 10.00 pm onwards. Preparation for this evening was in the form of an international competition designed to explore the increasing differentiation experienced within electro-acoustic music and the opening up to related genres. The resulting electro-acoustic music, live electronic music and the work with visual elements and video can be heard during a four hour marathon on Friday night into Saturday morning. >>go to Long night of electro-acoustic music
